The blaze in the the 600 block of South Pasadena Avenue, near Huntington Memorial Hospital, broke out for unknown reasons about 11 a.m. and was extinguished in about 20 minutes, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.

Damage was estimated at $1.5 million to the structure and $300,000 to contents, Derderian said, noting that at least three units were a "total loss."
