DORAL, Fla. (AP) - Venezuelans visiting Florida say future travel to the Sunshine State is a dim prospect after new restrictions on the amount of US dollars they can spend.

New rules published Friday in Venezuela's Official Gazette allow travelers to Florida to charge a maximum of $700 annually on their Venezuelan credit cards and buy no more than $300 cash. The rules apply only to travel to Florida. Venezuelans can charge $2,500 in credit and buy $500 cash for all other U.S. destinations.

Florida is the heart of the Venezuelan expat community, and where many travel to visit family and friends.

A representative at the Eurosuites hotel in Doral said customers were reacting with "rage and helplessness" over the rules.

Traveler Andreina Rondon said her family is unlikely to travel to Florida again.
