CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Authorities say a Canadian man who drove to Chicago to buy a boat suffered a heart attack while driving home Wednesday evening in south suburban Chicago Heights neighborhood.

Fire officials found Barrie Stevenson, 66, of Manitoba, Canada, slumped over his wheel about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Campbell Road and West Sauk Trail, Chicago Heights Fire Chief Larry Nardoni said.

Stevenson was heading home with his family when he suffered a heart attack, Nardoni said. He was taken to St. James Hospital and Health Centers-Chicago Heights, where he was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Heights police department said it is working with the boat seller in an effort to get the family's money back, police said.

Stevenson was traveling with his wife, daughter and son, none of whom suffered any injuries, Nardoni added.
