February's first snow storm brings slick roads and salt shortage

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

February started off looking a lot like January in Michigan, snowy and cold! Road crews are back out in force dealing with our latest storm.

Click on the video player to watch Robin Schwartz's report.

The Oakland County Road Commission shared their plan of attack. They say they'll deal with the snow as it comes down and they have extra crews on hand to get the job done. We caught up with Metro Detroiters busy shoveling (again) and breaking out their snow blowers. Some were buying new snow removal equipment at True Value Hardware in Dearborn Heights where they have everything in stock except for salt. That's in short supply. We're told another shipment is coming in next week but they have everything else you might need to deal with the latest winter blast.

"We were able to get some resources together bringing stuff in from places like Texas where they're not getting a lot of snow," said Eric Shingles.

Back out on the roads, you know the drill: it's slippery out there, take it slow. And here's a thought, we're expecting another storm in the coming days. Stay with Fox 2 and myfoxdetroit.com for the latest weather updates!
