Search In Recovery Mode For Man Involved In ATV Accident

TABERNACLE, N.J. -

Search crews called off a recovery operation after a man riding an ATV falls through ice at the Wards Sand Quarry in Woodland, NJ.

Officials are looking for a man identified by friends as Phillip Raimondo of Shamong Township.

First Responders say he went missing after falling into the ice while crossing on an ATV.

Friends say Raimondo was eager to go riding on the frozen over quarry like he often does

"He was like "come out! There's a bunch of people out here," Bre Taylor said."I tried to call him when I saw all the ambulances and there was no answer, and that was kind of weird."

They are now in disbelief as crews transition from rescue operation into recovery mode.

"I think everybody is in shock. I don't think anybody expected that,"Taylor said.

If you have any information about this missing man, please call New Jersey State Police 609 882-2000.
