HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two people who were killed when a car struck a light pole on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates on Sunday morning have been identified.

The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. when the driver of a silver Toyota Corolla headed west on I-90 near Barrington Road lost control of the car, which fell off the roadway and struck a light pole, according to preliminary information from Illinois State Police.

The car came to a stop on the left shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the tollway, police said.

David Xiao, 25, and Nguyen Knoi Nguyen Pham, also 25, were killed in the crash, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Both men were dead on the scene.

Xiao, of the 2300 block of South Stewart Avenue in Chicago; and Pham, whose home address was unknown early Tuesday, both died of multiple injuries from the crash, according to the medical examiner's office.

A third person in the car survived, but that person's condition was not immediately known, State Trooper Michelle Kistulinec said.

All lanes on the tollway were closed for nearly four hours as crews cleared the wreck.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
