Sweet Valentine's Treats

Posted: Updated:

Valerie Gordon of Valerie Confections stopped by today to spoil us with SWEET treats from her latest cookbook "Sweet" this morning.

Make your sweetie Valentine's Day Brownies with homemade packaging. The recipe for these tempting treats is from her new cookbook SWEET. Heart shaped brownies in a homemade box perfect to send with the kids to school or to give to your special Valentine. Complete with a ribbon and delicious treats.

Los Angeles-based Valerie Gordon of Valerie Confections is considered one of the top artisan chocolatiers in the country, known for modern interpretations of classic chocolates and confections. A self-taught baker, Valerie was inspired by the delight of unwrapping a box of chocolates when she made plans to open a shop in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles. Valerie Confections opened in 2003 to immediate acclaim and an ardent fan-base.

Today the company has grown exponentially - with multiple locations (Silverlake, Downtown at Grand Central Market AND Echo Park) offering cakes, pastries, petit fours, award-winning preserves, breakfast options, a full line of cakes and an elegant catering division.

In addition to her two new locations, Valerie also released her first cookbook, SWEET, in the fall of 2013. In SWEET, Valerie shares her secrets for tempering chocolate (made easy with few steps), mixing and matching cakes with icings, and even packaging the perfect edible gift. These are desserts that are guaranteed to impress, for aficionados and home bakers alike.

SWEET features inspired recipes for elegant desserts, crowd-pleasing cookies, rustic pies, decadent chocolates and more, in a 350-page, year-round companion for simple classics reinvented by Valerie Gordon. Available online at www.valerieconfections.com.

Born and raised in Liverpool, signed by an inexperienced agent named Brian Epstein, hustled into the studio with a genius producer named George Martin...and out of that session came a hit song called "Do You Want To Know A Secret." Now here's the twist…we're not talking about The Beatles.
