Black History Month: Afro-Latinos In The USA

Los Angeles, CA -

In observance of Black History Month, we focus on Afro-Latinos or Black Latinos in the U.S.A. Dodger star outfielder Yasiel Puig is a prominent example of Black Latinos who are the descendants of African slaves that landed in Latin America instead of the American South.  Because of their cultural differences, Afro-Americans oftentimes find themselves isolated in the U.S., instead of being part of the melting pot.

Guests are Juanita Palacios-Sims and Melissa Shephard from the International Society of Black Latinos, headquartered here in Los Angeles.  The website is www.blacklatinos.org.
