Fire Investigation Under Way In Bala Cynwyd

Posted: Updated:

An investigation is underway into an overnight fire in Bala Cynwyd.

According to authorities, Fire ripped through a home in Bala Cynwyd overnight. At 11:17pm fire crews responded to a house on the 100 block of Bryn Mawr Ave for heavy fire. The weather presented some challenges to firefighters trying to put the fire under control.

"The weather doesn't help," said Deputy Fire Marshal Frank Hand. "When it's this cold, it's icy, so everything froze up really quickly."

Fire was reportedly placed under control at 1:51am; however, some flames seems to have reignited as firefighters briefly returned on scene at around 6 a.m. this morning. Firefighters will return later to further investigate the cause of the fire.

One person was transported for observation overnight. 7 people (two families) have been displaced from the twin home. There is so far no word on what started the fire.
