TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will start the new year with a new head coach and a new look.

On Thursday, former Buc and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will do the honors on NFL Network, as the team reveals their first logo and helmet re-design since their current uniforms were adopted in 1997.

Sapp teased the big announcement, hinting the new look has fire and chrome.

The Buccaneers changed uniforms more than 15 years ago when they ditched their original orange and white color scheme and "Bucco Bruce" logo for pewter and red, with a flag bearing a skull and crossed swords.

NFL teams regularly overhaul their uniforms, but the change is not undertaken lightly.  It's generally thought to be a 24-month process involving market research, computer simulation and input from uniform experts.

FOX 13's Alcides Segui was out at One Buc this morning, where they display all the old logo ideas that never made it. Click through them in the gallery.
