WEST BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. (WJBK) -

There's a strange who-done it in Bloomfield Township: Who chopped down several large trees without the homeowners' permission? Some angry homeowners want to know.

Click on the video player to watch Erika Erickson's report.

One homeowner tells us a 20 year old tree was cut down and left on her front lawn Feb. 13 without her consent.

"I was in shock, I really didn't know what happened," said Patricia Matthews. "I thought about it. Did someone call me? Did someone leave me a notice? And I realized that didn't happen."

Matthews says her neighbors also had two trees chopped down in their yard without notice. They confronted the man described as driving a white, unmarked van but they say he wouldn't tell them who authorized the tree removal.

The township says they didn't set up any orders to have the trees cut down. DTE Energy and MDOT say they didn't do it. A local tree removal service tells us, usually trees slated to be cut down are marked and homeowners are informed. He also tells us this time of year is not typically when trees are cut down. We're still looking for answers for the homeowners.
