ATLANTA, Ga. -

An Atlanta man celebrated a milestone birthday over the weekend.

Dosh Jackson, turned 103 years old. He was born on February 22, 1911 in Macon. But Mr. Jackson isn't just celebrating his birthday this month, he's celebrating Black History Month.

Mr. Jackson does 10 pushups a day, he keeps up with his friends on Facebook and even cooks for himself. Over the years the obstacles his feet overcame and the struggles his eyes witnessed were far more challenging.

"Macon was segregated. Very much segregated. There were a lot of occasions, that made it very difficult and we didn't have the opportunity to advance as we should have," says Jackson.

That advancement would eventually come. "The biggest thing I've seen is that we have a black president. Obama. I just didn't believe that would ever happen. Not during my lifetime," says Jackson.

But a new era brings new issues.

Mr. Jackson says members of the younger generation of African Americans don't always remember where they came from. "I'm thinking about these athletes for instance. They go out and make millions of dollars, so what do they do? They go out and buy Lamborghinis, expensive cars, they forgot where they came from," says Jackson.

Mr. Jackson has raised four kids of his own, with his late wife Juliette Jackson. The couple was married for 72 years. Mr. Jackson has 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He attended Morris Brown College and is the oldest living member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years and started his own electronics business that was in operation for more than 50 years.

Even at 103 years old, Mr. Jackson has embraced technological advances. His favorite past time is listening to jazz on his iPad.
