Fullerton, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A 28-year-old eighth-grade teacher at a Fullerton junior high school has been arrested on suspicion of molesting at least one student, police said today.

Melissa Lindgren of La Mirada was arrested Friday, Fullerton police Sgt. Jeff Stuart said.

School officials learned Friday that Lindgren may have engaged in sexual  behavior with a student and immediately notified Fullerton police, Stuart said. Detectives responded to Nicolas Junior High School and launched an investigation along with school officials, he said.

"During their investigation, they developed information that a second student was also possibly a victim," Stuart said.

Lindgren faces several possible felony counts, including child molestation, child annoyance and the dissemination of harmful matter to a minor, he said. She was booked at the Fullerton Police Department and was released after posting $10,000 bail, Stuart said.

Lindgren is due for arraignment April 9 at the North Justice Center in Fullerton, he said, adding that the investigation is ongoing. "Lindgren was arrested within five hours of the school district
discovering the allegations," said Fullerton Police Chief Dan Hughes. "The speed in which this investigation was conducted is just another example of the excellent working relationship between the Fullerton School District and the Fullerton Police Department."
