The Port Authority has opened a new PATH train platform at the World Trade Center. The new modernized platform will become part of the $4 billion WTC transportation hub.
The transportation hub, which will have several similar platforms, will open in phases through 2015.
The new platform serves travelers headed from lower Manhattan to Hoboken, N.J. It features new lighting, public address speakers, illuminated signs, escalators, and elevators.
The PATH -- Port Authority Trans-Hudson -- rail system serves several stations in Manhattan as well as stations in Hoboken, Jersey City, Harrison, and Newark in New Jersey.
