CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Rhode Island boy celebrated his seventh birthday with help from hundreds of first responders.

What started as a mother's simple request for cards, played out as a grand event. A celebration brought out police and fire crews from all over New England, and as far as Kentucky and Florida. Thursday, an outpouring of support honored a young boy, Tyler, battling leukemia.

"I'm going to just start with "wow! This is amazing," said Tyler's mom Rachel Seddon.

The production started at the crack of dawn.

"We don't' care if it's cold…75 fire trucks," said Shiri Spear of Gillette.

"When you see a young kid in a fight like Tyler's…we're here for them," said Ed Kelly, President of Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.

Firefighters rallied and put together a caravan of 150 trucks from towns in Rhode Island.

"There's actually more than I expected. There's about 1500 cruisers. It was awesome," said Patrolman Robert Quirk of canton.

However, New England's finest is doing more than showing up. They want to step up and help him fight.

"Right now he's searching the registry for a matching donor…they've been unable to contact those people," said Jennifer from Be The Match.

"We hold a unique position that young kids, they look up to us and we live to a higher standard and try to live up to those expectations…I'm a cancer survivor myself so I have a special place in my heart for cancer survivors," said Trooper Dustin Fitch of the Massachusetts State Police.

"It's indescribable to know out of all the people…it's a great feeling," said Officer Leavitt of the Salisbury Police.

Tyler's mom's spirit will no doubt keep him as strong as the men and women that came out to honor him.

"This is truly amazing that you would do this for one 7-year-old…thank you," said Seddon.
