New App Created In NJ Could Help Drivers Avoid Trouble Spots

Posted: Updated:

Old man winter just won't let up this season! While snow plow operators are taking a much needed break for now, our car tires haven't been spared from all of the potholes on the road. A new app created in New Jersey could change that.

Winter driving poses so many difficulties. Some swerve, while others lose car parts because sometimes you just can't avoid these constant craters. Steve Passanante of Somerdale says, "I go to work the same route every day, and it's like two, three, four, five pop up that fast. "

Well now, there's a website and an app to help you navigate around those pesky, problematic pot holes. It's called Mappler and it was created last month by a central New Jersey company, Vertices.

Users can pin point pot holes, share how big they are, and identify where they are along the road. You can even take a picture and post it—just don't do it while you're driving!

One person already posted a warning about this mess on Evesham Avenue and White Horse Parkway in Magnolia. So far, the app has more than 700 pinned pot holes across the state.

The App's creators hope this map will not only help drivers steer clear of pot holes but also put pressure on local and state leaders to fix them faster.
