Westmont, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives today were investigating the death of a man who apparently was strangled in unincorporated Westmont abutting South Los Angeles inside his home, which appeared to have been ransacked, authorities said.

The death may have occurred around 10:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West 98th Street, said Homicide Lt. John Corina. "Deputies from the South Los Angeles Station responded to a 911 call of a person dead at the residential location,'' Corina said.

"Upon their arrival, deputies saw that the house appeared to have been ransacked and the victim, a 67-year-old male, was lying on the floor inside the residence. It appeared that the victim may have been in a fight or struggled with the suspect and the victim may have been strangled,'' Corina said.
