NEW LENOX, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman died Monday afternoon after being struck by a Metra train in southwest suburban New Lenox, according to the rail agency and fire officials.

Metra temporarily halted all trains on the Rock Island District line after inbound train No. 514 struck the woman about 12:35 p.m., spokesman Michael Gillis said.

Mary A. Pochordo, 42, of New Lenox, was pronounced dead about 1:17 p.m. at the scene in the 300 block of Maple Street, according to the Will County Coroner's office.

Preliminary results from an autopsy performed Tuesday found she died of multiple injuries from being hit by the train, the coroner's office said. Authorities will rule on the official cause and manner of her death following police and toxicological reports.
