Dr. Zein Obagi, World renowned Dermatologist of the Obagi Skin Health Institute stopped by the studio today to give us a little at home dermal boot camp to get rid of your skin's pesky problems right at home. You can also see Dr Obagi at a free seminar in Newport Beach.

Here were some of the helpful tips Dr. Obagi shared with Maria and Lisa today.

Lips

- Aim: exfoliation, hydration for smooth, smoochable lips

- Method: Mix an equal part honey and sugar. Massage mixture over lips for one minute twice weekly or Bite into tomato to plump lips

Acne 

- Aim: asprin (salicylic acid) is an exfoliating agent and will reduce acne lesions

- Method: Crush an asprin. Mix this with a small amount of water into a paste. Apply paste selectively to acne lesions and leave on overnight. Repeat as needed.

Yogurt SKIN benefits 

- Aim: Yogurt has multiple benefits to the skin and can be used in a variety of ways. Its components include: 1) Live cultures- anti-inflammatory benefits 2) Lactic acid- exfoliative agent to soften skin and leave it glowing 3) Zinc- acne improvement.

- Method: Apply organic, plain yogurt (like a mask) topically to the entire face and leave on for 20-30 mins. Rinse then with luke warm water.

- Variations:

1) Grated carrots (a source of vitamin A) can be added to the mask for anti-aging benefits

2) To create a scrub, add oatmeal to the yogurt and scrub the face for 40-60 seconds. This mixture can then be left on the skin for a further 20 minutes for the benefits detailed above in the aim. The mixture should be 2:1 (2 parts yogurt to oats).

Lemon/Papaya face Mask

 Mash ingredients together to make mask. Apply to face.
