Dog attacks woman and two children in Flagler County
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Authorities said a woman and her two children were taken to Florida Hospital in Flagler county after they were attacked by a dog on Friday.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, the mother was volunteering at the Second Chance Animal Shelter in Bunnell. She left her kids in the car while she went into the shelter. While she was away, a black and white dog broke out of its cage, jumped through the open passenger window of the car, and started attacking the young boy. The dog bit at her son's hand and face, causing considerable injuries.
The mother was able to pry the dog's mouth off of her son, but it then began to attack her, biting at her face and neck. She was able to bring the dog back to its kennel, but it again escaped and went after her daughter. She eventually was able to get the dog back into a holding area and drove away to get help.
Flagler County Animal Control said the dog has been quarantined at the Flagler Humane Society. It is being monitored for rabies and will eventually be put to sleep.
