4 men arrested in Conyers prostitution sting

FOX 5 Exclusive: 4 men arrested in Conyers prostitution sting

Posted: Updated:

Conyers Police conducted an undercover prostitution sting on Tuesday, netting four arrests. It's the second operation of its kind in as many months, and Conyers authorities hope it sends a message that prostitution won't be tolerated in the community.

Gone are the days of using undercover officers dressed as prostitutes to entice potential johns. Authorities now use fake online ads posted to websites like Craigslist.org or Backpage.com to lure in suspects. Authorities say these days, most prostitution is conducted online.

The suspects responding to ads showed up at a Conyers hotel, expecting to meet a prostitute. However, upon knocking on the hotel room door, they were met by Conyers police officers and were arrested.

Several of the men brought items along including alcohol, drugs, and large amounts of cash.

Recently Conyers police say they've seen a spike in crimes related to prostitution like aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping and drug trafficking.  Officers on the scene say Tuesday's operation was a success, even though there were fewer arrests made than the operation last month. They hope that means word is getting out in the community that law enforcement is stepping up its efforts to stop prostitution in Conyers.

Those arrested in Tuesday's operation include:

  • Richard Tomlinson, 22
  • Mario Moreno, 29
  • Ryan Allen Bunder, 32
  • Anrecus Bradley, 34

Police say all men will face misdemeanor pandering charges. Police add that because Bunder was allegedly in possession of drugs, he could face additional felony charges.
