It has been 16 years since the Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach has had any renovations. On Wednesday, mall owners announced some big changes.
Talking to regular shoppers at the mall, you get the impression that change might be a good thing.
"It's just old and boring, and it would just be great to have something new, exciting and different," said Janice Cashell.
The Volusia Mall's General Manager, Wayne Bohl, agrees.
"This is a fantastic day. It's fantastic for the Volusia Mall. It's going to be great for our tenants, our retailers, and it's going to give a great new appearance to the shopping center," he said.
The multi-million dollar plan is to re-do the tile in the entire mall, redesign the entrance ways with new signs, remodel the food court and the center court. Furniture around the mall will be replaced, and they will build a new children's play area. Outside, the mall we have new landscaping.
The renovations are expected to be done by November, just in time for an anticipated Christmas rush.
