Wounded dog gets a new life at Gwinnett Co. jail

Posted: Updated:

A wounded dog who wandered into a Gwinnett County pharmacy is getting a second chance, at the Gwinnett County jail.

The dog, now affectionately called "Bruce" wandered into the CVS store on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn, earlier this month.

When Bruce arrived at the store, his ears had been cut off and his head was badly burned.

The wounded dog is part of a program that removes dogs from Animal Control that would, likely, be euthanized. Now, he has been connected with an inmate and he'll be trained and put up for adoption once his training is complete.

According to officials, the dogs in the program are usually adopted once they're trained.
