Authorities spoil jailhouse conspiracy

Authorities spoil jailhouse conspiracy

Posted: Updated:
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Gwinnett County authorities said it was a conspiracy theory that almost sprung three men from jail. But one of them got sloppy and now six people are facing felony charges.

Authorities say three men inside the Gwinnett County jail plotted to pay off a victim so he wouldn't testify against them.

Police said the plotters wrote out their scheme in meticulous detail. The problem for the inmates was that a jailer found the letter inside a cell, and the whole plot came crashing down.

Investigators said family members of the accused men had already sent money to that victim, Matthew Barrett, who had accepted it.

Police said the three plotters, Alfredo Sosa, Miguel Luis Camacho-Gonzales and Jerome Derrell Welch, along with Barrett and the two women who delivered the money, Maribel Gonzalez and Jillian Michelle Dumke, are all facing felony charges.
