Paulding County authorities Tuesday identified the victim of a fatal beauty salon shooting as the suspect's wife.

Detectives identify the victim as 29-year-old Maria Nunez McDaniel of Hiram.

Deputies arrested 45-year-old Robert Steven McDaniel Monday after he allegedly shot his wife multiple times in the salon in the "Crossroads Community" of northern Paulding County.

The shooting happened near Dallas-Acworth Highway and Cedarcrest Road at Julia's Salon Dominican Hair Studio at around 11:45 a.m. Monday.

Paulding County deputies, officers with the Paulding County Marshal's Bureau, and Cobb County deputies were all eating lunch in the area when eyewitnesses alerted them to what happened.

The alleged gunman walked toward the deputies' parked cruiser with his hands up in the air, according to witnesses.

A Monday news release stated McDaniel was complaint with officers and taken into custody without incident.

FOX 5's Morse Diggs reported Monday a man walked into the salon, found his victim, and shot her to death.

Deputies recovered what they believe is the murder weapon.

Investigators formally charged McDaniel with murder and took him to the Paulding County Detention Center with no bond.

He's expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday morning.

A news release from the Paulding County Sheriff's office states Ms. McDaniel was from the Dominican Republic and that she did not have any children with Mr. McDaniel.
