Eight Year Old With Leukemia Receives The Ride Of A Life Time

Posted: Updated:

Atlantic City Cost Guard's helicopter crew fulfilled the dream of an 8 year old boy with a life threatening illness.

Colin Flood is diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. He is battling his second round of the disease after fighting it off with chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

Colin has always dreamed of riding in a Coast Guard's helicopter ever since he saw the shows Coast Guard Alaska and the Deadliest Catch but it was uncertain if that dream would ever come true.

The New York Police Department and Fire Department of New York closed Juniper Valley Park on Monday and gave Colin a tour of the helicopter. Colin also received a photograph of the helicopter signed by the Air Station crew, a Coast Guard ball cap and t-shirt, unit patches and a name tag with Colin's name on it.

Special Agent John Keeley of Coast Guard Investigative Service said , "It meant a lot to us to see the happiness on Colin's face and to be able to fulfill his dream to see a Coast Guard helicopter up close and personal."
