Walmart to hire 200 in Blue Ridge

Walmart will hire approximately 200 associates to work at the new Walmart slated to open this summer in Blue Ridge, according to a statement released by the company Tuesday.
According to store manager Connie Lambert, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. "We are excited to serve the Blue Ridge community by providing convenience, low prices and great new jobs to the area," said Lambert.

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit Walmart's temporary hiring center at 1901 Appalachian Highway.

Applications will be accepted from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Applicants may also apply online at
Walmart has made a pledge to offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months.Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart's standard hiring criteria.

Walmart will provide benefits to eligible full and part-time associates. These benefits include health-care coverage 401 (k) contributions, stock purchasing programs, discounts on merchandise and other incentives.
The majority of new associates will begin work in April to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
