Four arrested in Banneker High gun incident

UNION CITY, Ga. -

Four people have been arrested after a melee, involving a gun, caused a Union City high school to be placed on lockdown for hours Tuesday.

The incident happened around noon in the parking lot of Banneker High School, which is located on the 6000 block of Feldwood Road.

When officers arrived they learned that multiple people were involved in an altercation that resulted in "shots fired " in the parking lot of the school. Police discovered a number of loiterers in the parking lot when they arrived on the scene.

According to Union City authorities "one individual either shot into the air or discharged fireworks causing the crowd to disperse in panic."

Of the four arrested, two juveniles were charged with disorderly conduct and two adults were charged with reckless conduct and firearms related charges.

No injures were reported.
