CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

First pitch at U.S. Cellular Field is Monday.

There's still a lot of prep work going on over at the Cell, especially for the turf. This is thanks to the brutal winter season.

Roger Bossard, also known as the Sodfather, and his crew are hoping the spring thaw, as well as tarp and industrial heaters, will help get the playing field in top shape for Monday.

White Sox front office employees said they're confident it's already ready for ball.

Plus, even the sportscasters got a new look.

"We've got our X-1 entertainment operating center behind us here," remarked one sportscaster.

On the one-hundred level there's a new bar and restaurant catering to social media. It is complete with charging stations and someone to help with downloading apps and to upgrade service.

If fans can't get their fix on that, there's a new menu if they're on the club level. The Cell offers a steakburger loaded with a scoop of creamy and cheesy bacon mac and cheese.

There's also a chicken and waffle sandwich, as well as a three pound banana split with four scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream with lots of syrup.

The cherry on top would be the White Sox making it to the playoffs this year.

In regards to the turf, the front office said the field will be ready when the team works out on Sunday.

That practice is not open to the public, but seats are still available for the season opener.

The Cubs home opener is Friday, April 4.
