Norcross officer searching for blood donors

Posted: Updated:
NORCROSS, Ga. -

A retired Norcross police officer with a rare medical condition needs blood and his fellow officers have turned to the community he served to get it.

Officer Floyd Morgan retired last May due to a rare form of cancer.

According to the Norcross Police Facebook page, "Officer Floyd Morgan is a ten-year veteran police officer with the Norcross Police Department who is well-loved by his peers and the community."

Officer Morgan needs a stem-cell transplant and will need several blood transfusions during his 3 to 4 month recovery time.

Since platelets are critical to Officer Morgan's treatment and recovery, the police department encourages residents to share this information with everyone in their community and let donors know that they can donate on Floyd's behalf.

It doesn't matter what blood type a donor has.

There are two locations of Atlanta Blood Services; one in Atlanta and the other in Marietta. For more information and donor requirements, please contact Atlanta Blood Services at 404-459-8744 or visit them online, HERE.

Please make sure to tell Atlanta Blood Services that you are donating to Officer Floyd Morgan.
