Movie Critic Matt Atchity: Movies That Make You Think

Posted: Updated:

The end of the world, Ah-nuld blowing stuff up, and a biopic about Cesar Chavez. There's something for everyone this weekend at the movies. Matt Atchity from Rotten Tomatoes said out of these three, only one really holds water and that's "Noah". Matt says this one may not be what you expect because it's from the mind of Darren Aronofosky, the man who gave us "Black Swan" and "Requiem For A Dream". Critics are liking it but Matt thinks some moviegoers may not.

"This is a fascinating film but I think audiences will be perplexed by this so I would caution people: go into this with an open mind. This is not "Ben Hur" or "Ten Commandments" with big budget special effects. This is a Darren Aronofsky movie, which gets really weird...this is a weird movie and it's definitely an art film. Weird good...it is worth seeing."

Not worth seeing according to critics is Arnold Schwarzenegger's latest action flick "Sabotage". Ah-nuld is back...but critics think he should have stayed away.

"The critics say the problem is this movie is so violent and so over the top that it kinda takes away from the story and it feels needlessly violent...critics say avoid this one."

Another one they say to avoid is "Cesar Chavez". Critics agree his story is worth telling but most agree that it could have been told much better than what's on screen.

"They say that it doesn't deliver on really explaining what made him great...too much "oh he's just amazing and awesome" and it doesn't really humanize him."

Matt Atchity is the editor in chief for the pop-culture website "Rotten Tomatoes." He also hosts a new show on Sirius XM called "Rotten Tomatoes Radio."

The weekly one hour call in show airs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

‘Rotten Tomatoes TV Zone' is up now on the Rotten Tomatoes website.
