London Zoo Welcomes Three Furry Friends

Posted: Updated:

Three tiger cubs making their debut in England.

The trio was born at the London Zoo last month.

They're now cavorting in a larger space and, greeting visitors.

The mom, called "Melati", is very protective and her cubs are still a bit wobbly.

"I think they were a bit overwhelmed by it all really because it's such a big space. Also, mom was keeping a very watchful eye over them because she is obviously concerned where they are going to be going. She doesn't want them too far away out of her sight. So, she did limit them to around the area where they had come out of, just to make sure they were safe. But it was wonderful to see - they were all really excited and staggering around, said, London Zoo tiger team leader, Tracey Lee.

These are Sumatran tigers, a rare species.

Conservationists call them "critically endangered."

The London Zoo's still unsure of the sex of the cubs.
