Suspect May Be Tied To Germantown Home Burglaries

Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for a suspect that may be tied to a series of burglaries in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

The brazen burglar who Kadijah Banks says broke into her Germantown apartment in broad daylight last week has not been caught, and it's enough to make the mother of two uneasy.

Fox 29's Jennifer Joyce spoke with the victim.

"I'm still living in fear," Banks said, "I get up like 3 or 4 o'clock at night to make sure everything is okay, I can't sleep anymore."

Police say the suspect is on the move. He tried to hit another house on the 5800 block of Magnolia Street, but he was chased off.

"It's scary, you have a burglar in the neighborhood now," Banks said.

The surveillance video from the store told the story and helped police track down Banks television.

Philadelphia Police say after the burglar stole Banks' 37 inch Westinghouse television, he ran across the street to the corner store, gave a sales pitch to the clerk and sold the flat screen for $100.

Banks now has the television back, but she wants to find the alleged burglar. The surveillance video shows the suspect dressed like a contractor wearing a purple "Never Stop Explorin" sweatshirt, jeans and work boots with a tape measure clipped to his belt loop.

Fortunately, Banks' kids weren't home at the time of the burglary.

"My kids would've been on this couch, either watching TV or playing a game," Banks said, "I hope they get him. I don't want this to happen to anybody else."
