Caught On Camera: Woman Feeds Alligator

Caught On Camera: Woman Feeds Alligator

Posted: Updated:

A Florida woman makes a dangerous friend as she sits on the shore of a pond, feeding a hungry alligator.

She feeds the gator, and then she yells at it for getting too close.

"She would bring food back and forth and feed him, and he would hang out there all day with her," neighbor Lynette Miller said.

Miller also says she saw this happen over and over again in her Port St. Lucie senior living complex.

Each time the woman just inches away from death.

Miller took this video about a year ago.

"His nickname was 'Puppy Puppy.' She would just yell at him and he would come," Miller said.

"Puppy, Puppy, Puppy. But I thought she was calling her husband. But she said no she is calling the alligator," neighbor Grace LaPlace said.

Neighbors say the woman would feed the gator cereal by tossing the cereal into the lake.

"She talked to him all day in a low voice sometimes. But if he got aggressive she would yell at him. She almost had him trained," Miller said.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Investigators say you cannot train a gator, and what's happening in this video is very dangerous.

"It was quite alarming to see this woman just sitting by the water with this alligator just feet in some cases inches from her," Katie Johnson with FWC said.

Crews removed the gator because it started approaching other people looking for food.

"Nobody called the authorities until he came up to their patio and wanted a steak," Miller said.

However, the problem could be starting over again. Neighbors say different people have started feeding new gators.
