Michigan Heart Gallery features 131 in foster care

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) - The Michigan Heart Gallery opens this weekend, which is a photographic exhibit featuring 131 children in the foster care system hoping to be adopted.

The gallery opens Saturday, April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Emagine Theatres in Royal Oak.

Most of the children are older than 9 years old, and some sibling groups are also in the system.

Eighty-one volunteer photographers from around the state took the photographs.

The event will also premiere a video highlighting seven teenagers waiting to be adopted. The video was produced in partnership with Wayne State University's Communications and Fine Arts Department.

The event is free to the general public.
