ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The Orange County Sheriff's Office has located the mother of a young boy who was found walking alone Thursday night in Orlando's Pine Hills neighborhood.
Deputies said they found the toddler walking on North Lake in between La Vista Drive and Robbins Avenue. The child, who could only tell the deputy his first name, was taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families. He could not provide information as to where he lived.
Authorities said that phone calls generated by media reports helped them to identity the child as 4-year-old Terrans Jurdan Emile. His mother, Judiline Pierre, was contacted by the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
"At this point, it appears there was a miscommunication between Ms. Pierre and a relative who was the child's daycare provider," said Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jane Watrel. "No decision has been made on whether charges will be filed."
Watrel added that the child remains in custody of DCF.
