CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Cook County commissioner says he wants Illinois to follow Colorado and legalize marijuana.

John Fritchey and a handful of state lawmakers say tax money from recreational pot would help the state dig out of its deep financial hole.

Colorado has already taken in more than $7 million in taxes since marijuana became legal this year.

Fritchey says a good marijuana law could reduce drug-related crime and free up police resources, but the bottom line is all about the green.
