A dangerous prank in a Tennessee neighborhood targeted children playing outside. Police say strangers driving by in an SUV pepper sprayed a group of young kids in Columbia.
Authorities arrested 19-year old Nicholas Hendricks charging him with four counts of aggravated assault.
Police also say some of the passengers in the SUV said it would be "funny” if Hendricks sprayed the kids.
"One of the guys on the passenger side had his hand out the window and he pepper sprayed the children," said Tamela Bailey whose nephew was a target.
"All the kids come right here. They ran down here on their bicycle...my nephew couldn't open his eyes."
Shatonya Armstrong says her son was also sprayed.
"His eyes are just real watery. I don't see why someone would come down the street and do something like that," she said.
Police say they were able to locate Hendricks relatively quickly.
"I feel like the rest of the people in the truck knew what was going on. Something should happen to them also," Bailey said.
Parents say they're still going to let their children play outside, but they've warned them to be careful and on guard at all times.
