Brooklyn real estate workers get raises for company logo tattoos

Rapid Realty NYC offers its employees a 15 percent lifetime pay bump for dying a tattoo of the company's logo on their bodies. And more than 70 of their salesmen and saleswomen have seen Brooklyn Ink Tattoo's Matt Huff to achieve that pay raise.

"My job's not to judge what my client gets," Huff says. "My job's to respect what they want and do the best that I can."

Chief Sustainability Officer Stephanie Barry added a green leaf to her company tat.

"It's kind of like my backwards business card," she says.

Oliver Sinckler, just three days ago, chose wings.

"This is where my career's going to take flight," he says. "My girlfriend, she's the only one I've really told this far, but I guess now mom and dad's going to see it.

Whether to earn the title of "brand ambassador" (which Rapid Realty bestows upon its inked employees) or a lifetime of free tanning (as an MTV teen mom did) or simply to attract attention (like a Norwegian kid with a McDonald's receipt on his forearm), Mark Dimassimo, CEO of Dimassimo Goldstein, calls tattoo marketing a passing fad.

But for now advertising in body ink does seem to generate a lot of buzz. And maybe for places like rapid realty some brand-loyalty, which franchisee Brian Krupcyznski appreciates.

"That means: I'm with you, I'm going to be here forever and that's how we do it," he says.
