Long lines at LaGuardia security

Long lines at LaGuardia security

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The air conditioning conked out and one of only two security checkpoints lost power in LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C, creating a long, sweaty backup at the other checkpoint.

Delta Air Lines owns and operates the terminal. A spokesperson said crews brought in fans to try to keep customers cool and also handed out free water.

One woman passed out due to the heat.

"Unfortunately, the air conditioning at Delta's LaGuardia Terminal C operation stopped working Monday morning," said Morgan Durrant, a spokesperson for the airline. "Delta regrets the uncomfortable airport experience for our customers…"

The airline says the outage was "possibly related to construction but can't confirm that with 100 percent certainty."

The TSA says that several workers went home early because they didn't feel well due to the heat.

It gave Fox 5 News a statement saying: "Our TSA officers are working in some adverse conditions and we are making sure that they are hydrated. It is important to know that the checkpoints are open and we are processing passengers through to catch their flights. Our officers are going above and beyond to staff the checkpoints while the air conditioning system is being addressed."

The agency allowed workers to wear their summer uniforms while the air conditioning was out.

As for frustrated travelers, they did the expected: they complained about the ordeal on Twitter.

Conditions at LaGuardia well known. Vice President Joe Biden once quipped that if someone was brought into the airport blindfolded and then allowed to see the airport, they would think they were in a third world country.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
