Man Charged In Sheraton Four Points Hotel Shooting

Police confirm the victim has died after a shooting at a kid's birthday party on Tuesday night.

According to authorities, Jose Williams, 49, was arrested shortly after this incident in the 4700 block of Island Avenue.

Williams is charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and related offenses.

Police say the suspect entered the party suite and began arguing with family members. That's when a family member intervened and asked the suspect to step outside.

“As they left the room walking down the hallway apparently an argument ensued, our defendant pulls out a gun and fires one time striking the victim in the face,” said Lieutenant Walker.

The suspect then fled the hotel and ran across the parking lot as police arrived on the scene and began the search.

Taxi drivers spotted him as police arrived. They pointed the suspect out and stopped him from escaping.

The cab people were very supportive, the closed the gate. The male did make it over the gate but was apprehended by uniformed officers,” said Lieutenant Walker.
