Sapulpa, OK- An Oklahoma grandmother proves you're never too old fulfill your dreams.

Hazel Ellis’ dream of finishing high school finally came true on Friday after a 63-year delay.

Back when Hazel was a junior at Sapula High School she married her husband, Calvin Ellis, and from there the 81-year-old says life got in the way.

"But I was pregnant by the time school started. And in 1951, you did not go to school pregnant. Even if you were married. So, I didn't go to school," said Hazel.

Luckily, the school kept her records all those years.

When the school found her records they said she still need to complete a history and English class.

"I thought you gotta be crazy. You know, here we are at the end of our lives, really I’m 84, she's 81. And I couldn't believe that," said Calvin.

Finally, she received the call she has been waiting for.

"About a month later he called and said 'You passed. You are now a graduate of Sapulpa High School.' So, I don't know the grade I made on my test," said Hazel.

On her big day, her grandchildren, three sons and friends gathered and threw a party at the First Christian Church to celebrate.

When asked about college, Hazel says she rather go to Hawaii instead.
