Special Olympic Volleyball Player Takes To The Court

Posted: Updated:
Aaron Allen is a member of New Jersey’s Special Olympics volleyball team and while he excels in many sports, he said volleyball is his favorite because it requires you to be a true team player.

Allen isn’t just a leader on the court, he said that he holds another special honor in this year’s Games.

“To be an ambassador for New Jersey,” he said.

When it comes to other athletes looking to compete in the Special Olympics, Allen has some important advice to remember.

“Don’t get hurt and workout a lot,” he said.

Allen feels like he and his teammates are at the top of their game and will be very hard to beat this year.

Good Luck Aaron!

Some residents of West New York, New Jersey are happy with their beautiful views of Manhattan, but aren’t too happy about the noise that is coming over from the city. Residents who live at the Hudson Club apartment complex at Port Imperial say that the music that reportedly comes from a new concert hall at Pier 97 across the Hudson River in New York City is affecting their quality of life.

In June, Governor Christie announced a statewide expansion of the Narcan pilot in response to the heroin epidemic across New Jersey. Narcan can be used in the case of a heroin overdose to save someone’s life. Danny LaPointe is a former heroin addict who now describes himself as a person in long-term recovery from a substance abuse disorder. He says that heroin doesn’t discriminate and while some may be surprised by his story, it is not unique.
