The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:00 p.m. for the following counties: Coweta, Clayton and Fayette.
You may have noticed a pink sky Thursday night after the storms. FOX 5's Joanne Feldman says you have to have the perfect conditions timed at the perfect time for this to occur. We had so much moisture in the atmosphere that the sun was setting at the right time and hitting all of that moisture at the right angle to scatter a lot of orange, purple and pink light. (Photo H. The damaging wind threat was outlined in pink at 45% for Thursday evening. Storms coming through Atlanta measured a 53 mph wind gust.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue in the evening and overnight hours. We will get a break from the showers early tomorrow morning, and then more showers and storms are expected for Friday afternoon.
