Ripley's Believe it or Not 'Bizarre Bazaar'

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

"Ripley's Believe It or Not" brought its nationwide search for rare and unusual items to the city over the weekend.

Times Square was the place to be for the 2 day only "Bizarre Buying Bazaar" at the Odditorium on 42nd street.

Ripley’s VP told us several interesting items were brought in, like a shrunken head from Ecuador and Darth Vader made out of staples.

One item already in their collection that caught the attention of many was a thumb made out of fingernail clippings.

Now that's bizarre!

Ripley's Believe It or Not! is a franchise, founded by Robert Ripley in 1919, which deals in bizarre events and items so strange and unusual that people sometimes question the claims.

The Ripley Collection includes 20,000 photographs, 30,000 artifacts and more than 100,000 cartoon panels.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
