ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A parolee is wanted for allegedly breaking into an elderly woman’s home Sunday in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows during a ruse burglary, police said.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Stanley Miller, 32, suspected of the 3 p.m. burglary in the 2400 block of Central Road, Rolling Meadows police said in a statement.

He allegedly approached an 86-year-old woman who lived in the home, and tried to use a home improvement ruse to get inside, police said.

The woman kept the screen door locked, but when she walked away from the door, the suspect forced the door open and went to the kitchen looking for money and valuables, police said.

After the woman confronted him, he battered her and ran away, police claim. She suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.

Police say the same man tried to enter a different home nearby, where a 90-year-old resident lived, but was interrupted by a guest who came to the home at the same time.

Authorities have identified the man as Miller, and are offering a reward for information leading to his arrest, the statement said.

Miller is currently on parole after being sentenced to eight years in prison for a 2010 residential burglary conviction in Cook County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records. He was previously convicted of retail theft in 2009, also in Cook County.

Arlington Heights police found his vehicle abandoned in a parking lot shortly after the incidents, and the 86-year-old woman identified Miller in a series of photos, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Rolling Meadows police at (847) 255-2416 or Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-7867.
