Facebook Helps Man Recover Lost Wallet After 20 Years

Posted: Updated:

ASHLAND, OH- A man in Northeast Ohio gets back a wallet he thought he'd never see again!

Kevin Gibson lost his wallet at the Brookside Golf Course 20 years ago when he was a college student at Ashland University.

Recently, maintenance crews on the golf course were out working, and spotted the wallet in the thicket of the woods!

They posted the contents on Facebook, with hopes of finding the owner.

That's when one of Kevin's friends called him to let him know his old wallet was back!

"I remember riding in a golf cart through the golf course. After that it was when I realized that I didn't have my wallet anymore. I remember thinking oh no not again. It was like the second or third time in my life that I had lost my wallet," recalls Gibson.

"We were over here picking up trash and I noticed something and picked it up. It was a wallet. There wasn't much wallet left, just the cards so we turned it into the pro shop," explains head groundskeeper Jim Willis.

"I remember thinking 5 years ago before Facebook I would of never gotten any of this stuff back," said Gibson.

Kevin says he used to have a predisposition to lose wallets, so he's glad this one is back in his hands.

"It was quite a surprise that day. It was good news. I think it's the last time I actually lost my wallet. So I'm kind of glad that it's the last time it happened."
