ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A northwest suburban man who followed a woman out of a bar, sideswiped her car on purpose, then sexually assaulted her after the crash has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Mario Moore, 34, of Streamwood pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with the Sept. 29, 2012, attack in northwest suburban Bartlett, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said.

The crash happened as the 21-year-old woman drove home from the Cadillac Ranch bar, where she had spent the evening with friends, prosecutors said.

Her car was sideswiped about 4 a.m., and as she got out to investigate, Moore also got out of his vehicle, authorities said.

She recognized him from seeing him earlier that night at the bar, prosecutors said. Moore then grabbed the woman and forced her into his vehicle, where he struck her and sexually assaulted her.

Bartlett police found the woman near North and Oak avenues after she escaped from Moore’s vehicle a short time later, police said at the time.

Following an investigation, police located Moore the next day at the Geneva Commons shopping center on Randall Road in Geneva, and arrested him, the Courier-News reported at the time.

Judge Thomas Fecarotta imposed the 15-year sentence during a hearing at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
