MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Yet again, the Twin Cities metro and southern Minnesota received buckets of rain, not to mention, flooded yards and downed trees. We've had about a summer's worth of rainfall in just the past few weeks here in Minnesota.

WET RECORD

The National Weather Service reports this is the second wettest January 1 through June 16 on record in the metro with 20.58 inches of precipitation thus far. The record is 20.70 inches set in 2001.

POWER OUTAGES

After over 100,000 Xcel Energy customers were without power over the weekend around the metro, last night's storms left 20,000 in the dark in the Twin Cities, Mankato Red Wing and Winona.

TUESDAY OUTLOOK

Tuesday will be warm and muggy this afternoon as highs creep up to the mid/upper 80s. A nearby frontal boundary serves as a focal point to stir up a few more storms later this afternoon and into the evening hours. Since we will be so warm and humid, any storms that do develop will run a slight risk for turning severe. Any storms will settle down tonight, but we'll remain sticky as dew points hover near 70. More of the same tomorrow with heavier rain possible tomorrow night into Thursday.

Key times: 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Key threat: Gusty winds of 60+ mph and large hail >1"
