ELMHURST, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was pinned under a dump truck for about two hours after an accident at a west suburban construction site Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responded about 11:45 a.m. and found the 39-year-old Streamwood man pinned inside an overturned dump truck in the 400 block of South Spring Road in Elmhurst, a statement from Elmhurst police said.

More than 45 people using heavy equipment worked to rescue the man, and he was freed about two hours later, police said.

A medical helicopter landed at nearby York High School, and took the man to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, police said.

His condition was not known, but police said he was conscious and alert during the helicopter ride.

Elmhurst police and the Occupational Safety and Health Authority are looking into the accident.
